Dr. Edelle Field-Fote, Lecturer for this Year's Annual Irma Ruebling Distinguished Speaker Series


You are invited to attend the annual Irma Ruebling Distinguished Speaker Series lecture, presented by Saint Louis University’s Program in Physical Therapy, on Thursday, March 21 at 5:30 p.m. This year we are fortunate to have Dr. Edelle Field-Fote, professor for the departments of physical therapy and neurological surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine discussing  "Up to Standard: aligning practice, research, and the ideals of our profession ”.

 obtained her bachelor’s in physical therapy and her master’s in epidemiology/ industrial engineering from the University of Miami.  She received her doctorate in movement science from Washington University in St. Louis, where her doctoral studies investigated motor control in an animal model of spinal cord injury.  She completed postdoctoral training at the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, where she currently is the director of the Neuromotor Rehabilitation Research Laboratory. The efforts of her laboratory are directed at increasing our understanding of the neural control of movement, motor learning, and the influence of afferent inputs to improve function, promote neuroplasticity, and develop advanced rehabilitation strategies for people with spinal cord injury and other disorders of the central nervous system. Dr. Field-Fote is the editor of the textbook Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation (FA Davis Publishers, 2009), and her studies have been published in a range of peer-reviewed journals.  She currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy and as a Trustee of the Foundation for Physical Therapy.
 A certificate of attendance will be awarded for attending the lecture. A reception immediately follows. The event will take place on Saint Louis University’s Medical Center in the Allied Health Building at 3437 Caroline Mall, Room 1043, St. Louis, MO 63104.
