SLU PT Alumni Bryce Gaunt Interview

We are very proud to announce that a SLU PT alumi, Bryce Gaunt, recently published the text, “A Systematic Approach to Shoulder Rehabilitation.” We were able to get a short interview with Bryce, published below:

What year did you graduate from SLU PT?
I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy from SLU in 1992.

What kind of physical therapy do you currently practice?
I have worked for HPRC, which is a family-owned private practice, my entire career in Columbus Georgia. Currently, I am Director of Physical Therapy at HPRC at St. Francis Rehabilitation Center, and a majority of my time is spent in patient care.  Since 2002, more than 98% of my patients have been people with orthopaedic shoulder conditions. I truly love the shoulder and have been blessed to have opportunities to publish, present, and work closely with exceptional orthopaedic surgeons.

Would you say that your SLU PT education formed you as a physical therapist in a particular way? If so, how?
SLU PT had a tremendous, positive impact on me.  The professors provided an excellent educational foundation, promoted critical thinking, and challenged me to be my best.  I was also fortunate to be a cheerleader for 3 years while at SLU, which was an unbelievable experience that helped develop my personality in addition to being a lot of fun!

What inspired you to embark on publishing a text?
The project was the vision of both Dr. George McCluskey III and me.  We realized most shoulder reference books tend to focus on the athlete and may not provide a cohesive theory of evaluation or rehabilitation. Our vision is to provide an easy-to-implement systematic evaluation and rehabilitation progression that can be applied to patients with a broad spectrum of shoulder disorders. We want to help clinicians improve their shoulder rehabilitation skills.

How can I find out more information about the book?
